Catherine Ford is a British actress who was born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's departure from the family, she was grew to maturity by her mother, godparents and grandmother. As a young girl, she struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder and suffered from anxiety because of the word association. Ford became interested in acting during her teenage years and joined the National Youth Theatre. She got into the Sylvia Young Theatre School. However, after only a month, she decided that it wasn't the right fit for her. Ford applied instead for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and finally won an interview on her fourth try. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford earned her bachelor's degree in 1993. However, prior to that, Ford made a television debut when she appeared as a character in Surgical Spirit in an episode that aired in 1990. Ford took the professional name Catherine Tate. Tate was on television in the Nineties with shows such as The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Also, she was a regular performer at the theater, ultimately joining in the Royal Shakespeare Company for its 2000-2001 season. Tate gained not long after her recognition for her stand-up comedies, which were added to Tate's show in the year 1996.
